Leon Balogun at Brighton

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun was an unused substitute for Brighton who pipped Newcastle United 1-0 in a Premier league clash on Saturday.

It was Beram Kayal who deflected in Jose Izquierdo’s strike in the 29th minute to seal the win for the visitors, whose striker Glenn Murray was taken off after an aerial collision early in the game.

Hosts Newcastle were condemned to the bottom of the league table, at least for another week, having earned just 2 points this season.

The result means Newcastle are the fourth team in top-flight history to lose their first five home games.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur edged West Ham 1-0 in London derby, thanks to a 44th-minute goal by Erik Lamela.

In the other matches played concurrently, Cardiff City secured their first win of the season by beating visiting Fulham 4-2; Bournemouth drew goalless with Southampton while Watford win 2-0 at Wolves.
