Super Eagles and Mainz of Germany defender, Leon Balogun has expressed his happiness after his side defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday to escape relegation in the German Bundesliga.
Mainz did put up a brilliant display away from home as goals by Bote Baku and Yoshoro Moto put the visitors ahead inside the opening 13 minutes, before Maximilian Philipp pulled one back for the hosts on 16 minutes.
The side currently stand 14th on the table with 36 points from 33 matches. They are six points above Wolfsburg who occupy the final relegation spot in 16th place.
“What a way to safe the league!!! It was a hard season with a lot of ups and downs,” Balogun tweeted.

Meanwhile, his contract at the club will expire at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen if the centre back will remain at the club next season.
