Balogun, Ideye in injury scare

Nigeria’s preparation for Saturday World Cup qualifier against Algeria suffered a setback on Tuesday after Leon Balogun and Brown Ideye limped out training session at the Abuja National Stadium.

Balogun’s knee was draped with ice cubes while Ideye was on the bench to rest an ankle sprain.

But Eagle’s Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr allayed fears that the duo would be available on Saturday.

“I don’t think the injury is anything serious, our medical team will assess both players and see the extent of the injury,” he said.

Rohr said he hoped both players would be fit for the remaining training sessions before the tie.

“We know their their strong points and we are going to make sure we neutralise them.
Also speaking after training session, Eagles Skipper, Mikel Obi said they are prepared to give the match a 100 per cent.

“We have a crop of young and talented players ready to go. We know they play a counter attack formation, but we shall be ready for them on Saturday,” he said.
