Balogun joins Eagles’ injury list for Egypt match

Nigeria’s quest for 2017 Nations Cup qualification  suffered a setback on Saturday, as another defender, Leon Balogun, has been ruled out of the double header against Egypt.

First it was Kimsapasa of Turkey defender, Kenneth Omeruo, who suffered a groin injury while in action with his club and now it is the turn of FSV Mainz defender Balogun to join the list.

According to his club’s official twitter handle, Balogun sustained a muscular injury which might see him out for two weeks, effectively ruling him out of the back-to-back games with Egypt.

The centre-back was omitted from the Mainz squad that played out a 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga on Saturday due to same complaint.

Egypt has announced that they will arrive in Nigeria aboard a private jet on March 23.The match will be played at the 16, 000 capacity Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. And the second leg will be played at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt on March 29.
