Balogun’s Brighton lose to Man Utd, Success stars in Watford draw; Liverpool survive Palace scare

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun was an unused substitute for Brighton in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

It was a seventh successive win for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since taking over from Jose Mourinho last December.

Solskjaer hence becomes the first ever manager to win their first six league games in charge of Manchester United.

Paul Pogba put the hosts ahead through a penalty in the 27th minute and Marcus Rashford doubled the lead before halftime.

But the visitors pulled one back in the 72nd minute through a Pascal Gross goal.

Super Eagles forward, Isaac Success played a sub role for Watford in their home goalless draw against Burnley.

At Anfield, Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier league with a hard-fought victory over Crystal Palace.

A brace by Salah and a goal each by Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were enough to rule out the efforts of Palace.

The Reds were reduced to 10 men in the dying minutes of the encounter but went on to win 4-3.

Liverpool are now seven points clear at the top, pending when second-placed Manchester City face Huddersfield on Sunday.

In the other Premier League matches played concurrently, Newcastle defeated Cardiff City 3-0, Bournemouth beat West Ham 2-0 while Southampton also saw off Everton 2-1.
