BANDITRY: 26 die as Zamfara residents clash with bandits

Several lives were lost on Tuesday when a clash ensued between some bandits and a mob in Kabaje and Tunga communities of Kauran Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was learnt that the incident occurred around 5am.

According to reports, the bandits’ attack was a reprisal on the residents due to an earlier attack where the mob killed a suspected bandit’s wife, his errand boy, and a child.

The bandits later mobilized and allegedly killed 23 persons in a reprisal attack.

It was alleged that one Anas, was who was a resident of Unguwar Sarki in Kabaje, was suspected to be one of the informants to the bandits.

The Chairman of Kauran Namoda local government Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi confirmed the development, saying police had prevailed to maintain peace.

The Zamfara state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the incident.

He also revealed the police investigation was ongoing on the case.
