Bandits free Katsina councilor, wife, daughter, two others

A councilor, Gambo Yarliyau, his wife and one-year-old daughter have been freed alongside two other unnamed victims by bandits who abducted them, the Katsina State Government said in a statement on Saturday.

The kidnap victims were said to have been with their captors for nine days before their release.

Their release was confirmed in a statement by the Director General of Media to Governor Aminu Masari, Mallam Labaran Malumfashi, in Katsina.

According to the statement, the councillor, representing Barkiya Ward in the Kurfi Local Government Area of the state, his wife and daughter were presented to the governor on Friday evening by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kurfi Local Government Area, Alhaji Jabiru Tsauri.

The statement also revealled that the other two freed captives were traumatised and had been admitted in the hospital for medical attention.

The statement also quoted Governor Masari as saying that his administration would not relent in its efforts to secure lives and property in the state.
