Bank sacks 5 workers for releasing footage of robbery to the public

Five employees of one of the five banks attacked by robbers in Offa, Kwara State have been sacked for releasing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of the robbery incident to the public.

According to reports, the bank deemed the release of the CCTV footage which was done without official approval as “gross indiscipline,” which is potentially capable of affecting the security and image of the bank in question.

Sources say the bank sacked the five workers as the management was surprised at how the video was released to the public without approval.

The sacking is coming days after a hotelier identified as Mr. Kadir Surajudeen, and members of his staff were arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Ilorin for failing to give police useful information on the gunmen who attacked the banks in Offa.

Mr Surajudeen, the Proprietor of Xontec Hotel on Igosun Road, Offa and some of his staff were also parade alongside four guests who reportedly stayed in the hotel at the time the assailants allegedly lodged there before they embarked on the bank robbery.

The hotelier was arraigned with his accountant, receptionist, room keeper and clubhouse operator on two counts of criminal conspiracy and causing disappearance of evidence, including giving false information to screen an offender.
