Few days after the crash, Barcelona paid their tributes by asking Chapecoense to be their opponents at the 2017 edition of the Joan Gamper trophy.

The La Liga giants are now to host the game to help Chapecoense “rebuild institutionally and recover the competitive level it had before the tragedy.”

Meanwhile, the Brazilian side have succeeded in winning their first trophy since the crash, and have signed 25 new players this season and promoted nine from the youth team.
