Barca permit Neymar to leave for PSG amid La Liga criticism

Brazilian star, Neymar, has been given permission by Barcelona to leave the club in a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after leaving training on Wednesday.

The forward is now expected to make a £198million move to the Ligue one giants after a protracted transfer saga that is sure to go down in history if it can be finalised.

PSG look set to meet Neymar’s release clause, which will more than double the current world transfer record set when Manchester United paid £89m for Paul Pogba last summer.

“Before the morning [training] session began, Neymar Jr informed those present of his wish to leave the Club and therefore given permission to miss training and resolve his future,” a club statement read.

Meanwhile, the President of La Liga, Javier Tebas has questioned the legality of the transfer and threatened to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

According to Spanish newspaper, AS, Tebas alleged that PSG could break the Financial Fair Play (FFP) laws with the transfer.

“If PSG come with the money for Neymar’s [release] clause we will not accept it,” Tebas was quoted to have said. “They are financial dopers, breaking FFP laws.

“We will not accept money from a club who, without belonging to LaLiga, wants to take advantage of a right of our organisation – even more when this club is breaking rules and laws.

“If UEFA do not react, we will present an FFP complaint immediately. The complaint is ready and will be presented to UEFA, to the European Union and the Swiss courts (CAS), which are the courts that have jurisdiction.”

But Barcelona have accepted Neymar’s desire to leave and have granted him permission to finalise talks with the French side; and the Brazilian is now definitely on his way out.
