Barcelona end goalless with Malaga, as Messi, Suarez miss match

Barcelona failed to win without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as Malaga battled them to a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou.

The La liga defending champions were already without Suarez through suspension, and Messi was forced to withdraw on the morning of the game after suffering from symptoms of lightheadedness, vomiting.

Messi, who had only returned to Barcelona on Wednesday after guiding Argentina to a crucial 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Colombia on Tuesday, was reportedly ill before Saturday’s clash at home with Malaga FC.

“The Argentine player showed symptoms of lightheadedness and vomiting and will not be available for the game against the Andalusian side,” Barca said in a statement.

The draw leaves them a point behind leaders Real Madrid, who face Atletico later in the day.

In another La liga game on Saturday between Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla FC at the Estadio Riazor, Sevilla came from 2-0 down to beat Deportivo La Coruna 3-2.
