Barcelona fall to shock defeat against struggling Las Palmas
Barcelona’s 125th anniversary celebrations were spoiled by a shock defeat to struggling Las Palmas.
The game played at the Nou Camp saw the visitors take the lead through former Barcelona forward Sandro, who struck a low shot on 49 minutes across goal amidst boos from the home crowd.
Barça captain Raphinha brought the hosts level in the 61st minute with a powerful low drive, but Fabio Silva restored Las Palmas’ advantage six minutes after.
The victory lifts Las Palmas to 14th in the table, while Barcelona’s lead at the top could shrink to a single point if Real Madrid defeat Getafe on Sunday.

Marking their 125th anniversary on Friday, Barcelona introduced a new mascot to commemorate the occasion, but their celebrations were overshadowed by their first home loss to Las Palmas since September 1971.
The result also extends their winless streak in the league to three matches, having drawn 2-2 against Celta Vigo and lost 1-0 against Real Sociedad.
Adding to their woes, Alejandro Balde was stretchered off in the 26th minute following a collision with Sandro.
