Baton Rouge boils again, 3 policemen shot dead, 1 suspect killed
As protests continue to mount across the US stemming from the Alton Sterling shooting, and the ambush on Dallas police officers where a sniper killed five officers, another ugly incident played out in Baton Rouge when  three officers were killed and three others wounded in a shooting reportedly carried out by multiple armed men.
Police Department spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola told CNN that one of the suspects was shot dead, and two others may be at large.
No motive has been identified at this time following the attack on the six law enforcement officers who were shot.
Police received a call of “suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle,” a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. When police arrived, the shooting began.
Three officers died; the other were hospitalized in critical condition, a source told CNN.
The victims were from Baton Rouge Police Department as well as East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, another official said.
“This is an unspeakable and unjustified attack on all of us at a time when we need unity and healing,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said.
