Court remands 37-yr-old man for sexually assaulting his 6-yr-old daughter

A 40-year-old man identified as Godbless Ogiode has been sentenced by a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to eight years behind bars for raping two minors.

After pleading guilty to the charges, the convict, who resides in Kpansia, a suburb of Yenagoa, was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a four-year-old girl and unlawful carnal knowledge of a five-year-old boy.

Dise Ogbise-Erhisere, Chairperson, Federation of International Women Lawyer, FIDA, Bayelsa, expressed delight at the judgment handed over to the convict saying it was a victory for them and a warning to pedophiles, child molesters and abusers in the state.

Ogbise-Erhisere, who is also the complainant in the matter, told newsmen that she was happy with the speedy dispensation of justice in the case.

She explained that on Friday, September 15, she got a distress call from a concerned neighbour on the defilement of a boy.

According to her, she was informed by neighbours that the accused was a serial molester of children.

    This is the wrong judgement, the man ought to be castrated and set free. Nobody will sentence him to death before he sentenced himself to death days afte

      I think I agree with you, if the federal government starts castrating men who rape adults and under-aged, the rates of rape will drastically reduce because the frustration they will face from castration will eventually force them to commit murder.

      This is too mean, castration will lead to frustration and the frustration will eventually lead to death. But, before the death comes, the person’s life will be war

    Eight years behind bars is too small, it should not be less than 50 years behind bars!

    The judge fall my hand, this offence or criminal behavior worth death and not eight years jail term. The scar he has left on those minors will be there forever. He deserves to die
