Bayelsa deploys drones to fight crime

In its bid to curb the incidence of crime, the Bayelsa State government has concluded arrangements to partner with the police and also launch a crime control drone system.

That much information was revealed by Chief Blessing Ipigansi Igbagara, the Commissioner for Science and Technology during the inter-ministerial/agency press briefing to mark the sixth anniversary of the Seriake Dickson-led administration.

During the press briefing, the Commissioner said the mechanism was developed by an indigenous manpower and technology system which would have a direct link to the police on patrol duties at different locations in the state.

The Commissioner also said the drones numbering up to four with a speed limit of 150 kilometre per hour have been deployed in every police station in the state to fight crime and most especially curb any potential invasion by Fulani herdsmen.
