Bayelsa to prosecute those involved in payroll fraud
As part of efforts to rid the state of wide spread pay roll fraud, the Bayelsa state government will soon implement the Public service reform committee report.
A source in government hinted that some of the offenders might be prosecuted at the law court, as the state government begins a proactive action to end fraudulent practices perpetrated by some civil servants.
Bayelsa State has over 20, 000 civil servants in its pay roll, mostly made of ghost workers.
A member of the Committee on Civil Service Reforms told The Guardian on condition of anonymity that the government had commenced compilation of the names of those believed to have perpetrated the employment and salary fraud in the state.
Although the source did not mention the exact number of those indicted in the exercise, it was said that so many people have been indicted.
