No such plan to spend N850m for Christmas trees, Okorocha says

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha is quoted to have said that ailing President Muhammadu Buhari may return to Nigeria in about two weeks by the BBC.

Okorocha, who was among the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors that paid Buhari a visit in London on Sunday, reportedly made this disclosure on BBC’s Newshour programme on Monday.

He had told the British media outfit that Buhari was in high spirits during the meeting and was active in their discussion about happenings in Nigeria.

“I met a very hearty man in high spirits, and he’s doing quite well. He has not lost his sense of humour, for which is he known.

“So he is doing quite well and we are very pleased to see him and I think that has gone a long way to reassure Nigerians about the health of their president,” Okorocha was to have said.

He was also reported to have earlier said that Buhari was unmoved by the controversies surrounding his health status.
“President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians,” Okorocha said, adding that he would be returning as soon as his doctors asked him to do so.

The national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, led the delegation to London to visit Buhari and the photo of the visit which showed Buhari seated with the delegates may have doused speculations that the president is on life-support.

Some political watchers are somewhat surprised that this latest information about the president’s health and conversations is being conveyed by the Imo State Governor with even media aides to the president attributing quotes to him in their announcement of the meeting. Some wonder why there is no direct reporting of the meeting and its conversations by any of the president’s official spokespersons.

It is getting to three months since Buhari left Nigeria on May 7, for a follow-up treatment in London. The photo of him meeting with his party delegation from Nigeria is the first time Nigerians have something of an evidence to show that his condition may well not be as bad as has been portrayed by Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Fayose had not too long ago alleged that Buhari had been on life-support since June 6. He even threatened to publish photos of Buhari to prove his claims.

Buhari, before embarking on his current follow-up treatment, had spent 49 days in London for an ailment that is still to be made public.

Okorocha can never be trusted, I see why they selectees him among the governors who went to visit Buhari. APC is using him to tell lies that he’s known for.

If President Buhari didn’t resurface in two weeks time, then you can hurl insults at Okorocha but for now, he deserves no lambasting from anyone

According to our politicians, Buhari is always in high spirit with active sense of humor, yet neither of these is telling on the country he’s leading. Nigerian security are suffering, not even Gandoki’s comedy can make some people laugh because of the rate of poverty. The president that is in high spirit like he’s always on hyper-active drugs is slowing down our economy… nonsense! He should seat back in London, we don’t need him here

Okorocha thanks for the information, I hope it will be genuine in two weeks time. We Biafrans will be very happy to have Buhari back so that he can start the secession processing fast.
