The much followed and much talked about Big Brother reality TV show has come and gone with fans favourite Efe emerging the eventual winner of the N25 million prize money and KIA Sorrento SUV.

But the biggest winners are the organisers who according to estimates, raked in over N1 billion from just votes alone in the last two weeks leading to the end of the show.

The week before the grand finale, housemates who were nominated for eviction from the Big Brother Naija reality show – Tboss, Bally, Marvis and Debie-Rise – received a cumulative eleven million votes, according to show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

In the final week of the show, over 26 million votes were recorded for the final of the just concluded reality TV show, Big Brother Naija 2017 “See Gobee”. Although millions of Africans across the continent tuned in on a daily basis, only Nigerians were allowed to participate at N30 per vote.

Across the internet, there was a deluge of online campaigns, tours and rallies in order to canvass votes for their preferred housemates in the last two weeks of the reality TV show.

The housemates were not also left out in the sensitisation as days before the grand finale; the five housemates took to social media to educate fans on who to vote for through the endorsed We Chat Application and text messages with hash tags trending for each of the housemates.

Cumulatively, about 37 million Nigerians voted in the last two weeks of the show which witnessed aggressive votes from the fans who wanted their favourites to win the keenly contested show.

At end of voting, Efe Ejeba emerged tops scoring 57.61 per cent of the total votes, closely followed by Bisola’s 18.54 per cent, Tboss’ 16.60 per cent, Debie-Rise’s 8.78 per cent and Marvis who raked in 1.47 per cent of votes.
