BENUE: INEC begins collation of results as Ortom maintains lead

APC accuses Ortom of recruiting thugs, militia for election

Despite the several reports of hoodlums disrupting the electoral process in Benue State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced collation of election results in the state.

According to the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Ne- ntawe Yilwatda collation of results commenced at 10p.m Saturday at the INEC Headquarters in Makurdi.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintained his earlier lead as results of supplementary elections held in state started trickling in.

According to results from some polling units especially at the Makurdi Central South/All Saints Primary School Polling Unit 014, the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 49 votes while the PDP scored 75 votes.

Results released at the Modern Market/Ternamdo Polling Unit 011, showed that APC polled 83 votes while the PDP scored 96 votes.

However, at Tse- Hirnyam Polling Unit 002 in Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, the APC scored 149 votes while the PDP scored 86 votes.

Also, results revealed from some polling units in Benue South senatorial district showed Ortom leading in the area.
