Govt finally arraigned ex-Gov Suswam in court

The Department of State Service (DSS) has again arrested and detained former governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam.

He was said to have been arrested following a petition leveled against him by a high ranking politician, who accused him of habouring Mr. Terwase Akwaza, known popularly as ‘Ghana’.

Ghana is alleged to have contributed to some of the killings in the troubled state.

The DSS it was learnt, had on Tuesday invited the former governor to its office and kept him back in its custody since then.

Recall that the DSS had also in February last year arrested the former governor over his alleged link with Ghana, who Police had since declared wanted sequel to the killing of about 17 people in Zaki Biam, Benue State, in March 2017.

Reports claimed that Suswam’s lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), who went to the DSS office to see him on Wednesday was denied access to the former governor.

The DSS had in 2017 when it arrest Suswam claimed among other things that arms, ammunition and other incriminating items were recovered in some exotic cars in a complex it allged was owned by the former governor.

The agency had then kept the former governor in its custody for more than two months only to free him after Suswam dragged it to court and was granted an administrative bail.
