BENUE: Miyetti Allah suggests how to end killings

The leadership body of herdsmen, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Benue State chapter, on Monday said that they are peace loving and were never involved in the incessant killings in Benue since January 1, 2018.

The group chairman, Ubbi Haruna, stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Makurdi, the state capital.

He stated suggested that going forward, there will be peace in the state, and suggested that for peace and security to prevail, bygones be bygones.

Buhari had after so much criticism, embarked on a tour of states that have been under incessant attacks by herdsmen and other criminal elements leading to deaths of hundreds of innocent citizens of the country.

He had last week visited Taraba and Plateau states and was in Benue on Monday.

But speaking at the meeting with Buhari and other stakeholders in Benue, Haruna argued that the claim that his group are responsible for the wanton killings were “totally misleading.”

He added, “The association has always appreciated peaceful and harmonious coexistence between farmers and herdsmen. Going forward, there will be peace in the state. Let bygones be bygones to allow peace and security to prevail.”
