BENUE: Ortom wins government house polling unit

Benue State Governor and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Ortom, has won the government house polling unit.

Ortom polled 127 votes to defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Emmanuel Jime, who recorded 112 votes.

It is reportedly the first time a government in power would be winning the polling unit.

In the House of Assembly election, PDP polled 127 votes to win the in the polling unit with APC scoring 85 votes.

However, as with many other states, voter turnout was slightly lower than that of the Presidential and National Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had earlier arrested an agent in the State with millions of naira claiming to be the agent of the Benue State governorship candidate of the, Emmanuel Jimeh.

The EFCC, which posted a picture of the seizure, said in a Facebook post that the suspect was arrested in Makurdi.
