BENUE: Soldiers, herdsmen in fierce gun duel
There was a heavy gun duel in the troubled Guma Local Government Area of Benue State between men of the Nigerian Army and suspected herdsmen.
That much information was revealed on Saturday by Maj. Gen. Adeyemi Yekini, the Theatre Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke.
Maj. Gen.Yekini however revealed that no casualty was recorded on either side after the gun battle.

He said, “Our men went on patrol along Gbajimba and encountered the herdsmen but we have no record of death or injury yet because our troops are still on the field. However, I’ll let you know as soon as possible.”
Since January 1 this year, Guma and Logo Local Government Areas have been under heavy attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen leading to loss of over 500 persons.
