The weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting started today on a sober note, as the cabinet members who gathered took time to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, and three other ministers who are under the weather.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, and the minister for Information and Culture,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed were called upon to say the opening prayer.

While Mohammed toed the conventional path in his prayer pattern, Lawal disclosed that Buhari and three of his ministers are currently indisposed and urged members to pray for them.

Lawal then proceeded to name ministers and asked God to heal them.

He started with the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Aisha Alhassan, who he said “is recuperating in US after a surgery.”

He also prayed for the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who he said “is down with back pain.”

Shortly after he concluded his prayer, the SGF was reminded that he did not mention the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril, and he quickly added Jibril’s name to his list of sick cabinet members.

He however did not disclose the nature of Jibril’s sickness.

The FEC meeting was presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
