Biafra: Court to try Kanu in secret

The Federal Government, on Monday, succeeded in its quest to have the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, conducted in secret.

Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Abuja upheld the submission of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Mohammed Diri, ordering that screens be used to shield witnesses who will testify against Nnamdi Kanu in the trial.

The judge, who had earlier ruled against the wearing of face masks by witnesses, also ordered the witnesses to use non-public routes and rest rooms, while also adjourning the case to March 9.

It would be recalled that the prosecution witnesses, who were billed to testify against Kanu, refused to appear before the Court. The DPP told the court that the witnesses, comprising operatives of DSS and civilians, would not appear in court unless the court makes an order shielding them from the public.
