Biafra: DSS drops charges against Nnamdi Kanu

Published

on

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Director of the pirate radio station, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been discharged and acquited by a Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.

Chief Magistrate Shuaibu Usman, Wednesday, discharged and acquitted him on all counts of criminal conspiracy and ownership of an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government.

The magistrate held that since the Federal Government has elected to drop the charges against Kanu, he is discharged and acquitted of all charges. He also struck out the case.

The Department of State Services, DSS, had decided to withdraw the case at the lower court to a higher one. It is believed that it is the higher court that has jurisdiction to entertain charges bordering on terrorism.
