A momentary relief came the way of detained Director of Radio Biafra and founder of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, as a Federal High Court siting in Abuja has ordered his remand in Kuje Prison, after rejecting an application by the Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Mohammed Diri, for the Kanu to remain in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Trial judge, Justice James Tsoho, made the order on Wednesday, when Kanu, alongside two others, were arraigned on charges of treason.

The judge made the order after the defence team complained that the suspects have been denied access to their families and lawyers.

Kanu has been in the custody of the DSS since he was arrested on the 14 of October, 2015 in a hotel room in Lagos on the allegation that he was plotting the secession of Rpublic of Biafra from Nigeria.

Kanu and the two other suspect pleaded not guilty to all the six counts preferred against them.
