BIAFRA: Kanu vows to fight on, challenge bail conditions

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOP) leader Nnamdi Kanu has sworn that nothing will stop him from continuing the agitation for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria.

This was even as he vowed to challenge his stringent bail conditions, which he described as unconstitutional.

Kanu, who was only recently released from the Kuje Prison Abuja, where he spent over a year due to his Biafra demand, stated this when he spoke in Enugu on Monday during a “Thank You” visit to the leadership of the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA.

The group had in absentia appointed him its leader while still in detention, with Chief (Mrs) Maria Okwo as his deputy.

Kanu, who told the group he will never give up the agitation during the visit, stated that he would see the reward of his agitation in this world and not in death.

Meanwhile, Kanu’s father, the traditional ruler of Isiama Afaraukwu in Umuahia, Eze Israel Kanu, on Monday also urged the Federal Government to withdraw all the charges against his son.

He said, “I call on the Federal Government to immediately withdraw all the charges preferred against Kanu in the interest of peace in the country. He did not commit murder. He did not carry arms; neither did he commit any heinous crime to warrant such a government clampdown.

“His only offence was that he expressed his opinion in a democracy where people are free to express themselves without the fear of arrest or molestation.”
