BIAFRA: Lawyer petitions UN, EU with CCTV evidence of Police, Army allegedly looting Kanu’s home

A petition with an attached CCTV footage of how Nigerian Police and Army allegedly looted the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, on October 8, has been sent to the United Nations, the European Union and other foreign countries, the family has said.

Lawyer of the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, signed the petition on behalf of the traditional head of Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, in Abia State, and Kanu’s father, Eze Isreal Okwu-Kanu. He accused Nigerian Army among other things of looting household equipment.

This is coming just as the Nigerian Police had claimed that lethal weapons were recovered from the house during the October 8 raid.

However, Ejiofor in separate petitions to the international bodies and foreign countries claimed that CCTV footage attached to his petitions “picked” how a combined team of soldiers and policemen looted the home of the IPOB leader.

His petition sighted by Ripples Nigeria, read “We are solicitors to the family of His Royal Majesty, Eze Isreal Okwu-Kanu, hereinafter referred to as ‘our client’ and on whose standing instruction we file this communication with the British Government.

“It is our brief that on the 8th day of October, 2017, our client’s son’s home (Nnamdi Kanu) in Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, in Abia State was invaded, and violently looted by rampaging Nigerian soldiers and their police counterparts.

“The CCTV footage which picked the horrendous raids, revealed the brazen looting and carting away of valuables and household equipment by the above named security agents,” part of the letters read.

The letters were said to have been made available to the Resident Representatives of UN and EU, the US Ambassador, the Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, the High Commissioner of the British High Commission; and the High Commissioner, the Canadian High Commission.

The whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu, whose court case on treason charge is coming up on Tuesday October 17, has remained unknown following the raid of his home on September 14, by soldiers.
His lawyer, Ejiofor, already has dragged the Nigerian Army to court asking it to either produce him alive, or dead if he has been killed.
