Bishop Kukah clears the air on his plans for 3m northern students
The Bishop of the Sokoto State Catholic Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has cleared the air on his planned elementary education empowerment for three million northern children.
According to him, the project would go on and it has nothing to do with almajiris as believed by many in some quarters.
Speaking Monday in Abuja during the unveiling of digital classrooms for public primary schools in northern Nigeria by the Kukah Center, in conjunction with ProFuturo, the Bishop said the project is expected to raise the standard of education of students over the next five years.

Magaji also added that over 123,000 primary school pupils, with over 5,000 teachers are expected to benefit from the initial phase of the project implemented by the centre.
He also added that there was no relationship between the programme and the almajiri as canvassed recently by the Prof. Ishaq Akintola-led Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).
