Blackberry set to unveil 3 android phones

Blackberry is set to release three android phones called Neon, Argon, and Mercury this year.

CEO John Chen seems to have finally kicked BlackBerry OS to the curb, and it looks like Android phones may be BlackBerry’s future.

While the code name for one of BlackBerry’s new phones was rumored to be Hamburg, according to the most recent leaks, the device will be called the BlackBerry Neon when it hits shelves.

A detailed report in VentureBeat peeled back the curtains on the Neon’s hardware. It’s built on an “aluminum frame” with a “soft-coated plastic back,” and what’s inside is decidedly middle of the road: a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2,610mAh battery, and a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter.

But those internals align with the Neon’s rumored pricing: less than $400, and free on contract.

“A lot of enterprise customers have said to us: ‘I want to buy your phone, but $700 is a little too steep for me. I’m interested in a $400 device,’” he said.
