Blame past norther leaders for power outages, Shehu Sani says
The former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has blamed the current power outages in the northern region on northerners who were in power for many years but were not willing to do anything to improve electricity in the region.
Almost all the states in the north have been in total darkness for over 10 days now following what the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), said was as a result of a disruption of key transmission lines that supply power to the affected states, a tower collapse along the Shiroro–Kaduna transmission line as well as the other fault along Ugwuaji–Makurdi line.
The TCN had also cited the vandalism of the Shiroro line by terrorists and the dangerous terrains which has led to the inability of its engineers to commence repair works which has led to the prolonged blackouts that has impacted daily life and economic activities in the north.

In spite of these, Sani says the northern leaders should be blamed as they failed to build power stations in the north when they had the opportunity.
In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Sen. Sani said:
‘If Lagos has 8 power stations and the North has 3, the person the North should blame is the Northerners who were in power, who failed to build the power stations in the North and built it in Lagos. The 8 power stations in Lagos were not built in the last 15 months.”
