Bloody cult war claims 8 lives in Calabar

There has been heavy security presence in streets of Calabar, Cross River State after a renewed cult clash between Vikings and Black Axe confraternity claimed no less than nine lives in the last three days.

According to reports, the deadly cult clash which started on Sunday night and continued late Monday to the early hours of Tuesday was a reprisal attack following the earlier hacking of a member of one of the cult groups.

An eyewitness who declined to be named said the clash was sparked by the gruesome killing of one of the cult members identified as Agbani.

The eyewitness also added that after the clash, he counted at the least four corpses of suspected cultists’ along Marian Road in Calabar on Monday night.

“I also learnt that four others were gunned down at Atekong Drive and close to Apples along Marian Road in Calabar Municipal,” he said.

However, Irene Ugbo, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, only confirmed the death of one victim but revealed that the police was on top of the situation.

“Actually, the clash between the two rivalry cult groups occurred. The police are on top of the situation. But only one person was reportedly killed,” she said.
