Bloody politics: El-Rufai loses 10 men to assassins
Markus Ishaya, one of the campaign coordinator of Kaduna State Governor-elect, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, was on Tuesday shot dead by unknown gunmen; bring to ten, the number of APC members that had been killed in the state before, during and after the elections.
Ishaya a local campaign coordinator for el-Rufai at the Atuku Ward, was reportedly trailed by the gunmen to his house in the Atuku Kasa area of Jema’am Local Governor Area of the state, where he was shot severally by the yet-to-be identified gunmen.
Spokesman for the APC Kaduna Campaign Council, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said the APC in the state was notified of the death by the deceased’s family.
A family source said the men, two in numbers, who were heavily armed, stormed the residence of the APC chieftain and shot him severally, adding that “they didn’t pick any property in his residence.”
The governor-elect, while condoling with the family, said, “Our empathy and prayers go to the family of Mr. Markus Ishaya and the entire community over this callous murder and desecration of human life.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family and friends the fortitude to bear this painful loss.”
