BOKO HARAM: Hours to deadline, Red Cross pleads with FG to rescue health workers

Emerging reports claim that the terrorist Boko Haram group has recaptured two Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Northern Borno Senatorial District.

Communities in the supposedly recaptured LGAs, Gubio and Magumeri, it was learnt, came under heavy Boko Haram attacks from Wednesday evening till Thursday morning, without resistance.

The attacks, it was further learnt, left scores dead, and houses razed, while hundreds of thousands of residents were allegedly displaced.

Those who did not run away from the attacks, were reported to have fallen under the captivity of the insurgents.

The two LGAs it was gathered, had been without military presence, since troops in the area recently withdrew for routine operational changes as enshrined in the Rules of Engagement.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army is yet to respond on the matter as at the time of filing in this report.
