BOKO HARAM: Hours to deadline, Red Cross pleads with FG to rescue health workers

The Boko Haram terrorist group on Thursday evening attacked and burnt houses in Gatamwarwa community, a town in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

The insurgent group was said to have stormed the place through a neighbouring village, Askira with tens of motorcycles at about 5pm, shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze.

The villagers overtaken by fear ran for their dear lives with many of them dashing into the bush for succour.

It was learnt that troops from 117 battalion in Chibok and 115 battalion in Askira soon after the arrival of the terrorist group, moved in to repel them.

In December last year, Boko Haram had also attacked Makalama, Bwalakia villagers all in Chibok and burnt their houses.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing in this report, the Nigerian Army is yet to confirm the Thursdsy attack, or give a situation report.
