Boko Haram bombs Maiduguri mosque, kills 11

Boko Haram insurgents, Saturday morning, bombed a mosque in Maiduguri, killing 11 worshippers in the early hours of the day.

The attack, which occurred in Kushari village, behind the old CBN quarters was confirmed by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, who said the incident happened around 5:40am.

According to him, the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers who were accompanied by a gunman.

He said: “On-the-spot assessment at the scene revealed that at about 0540hrs gunmen suspected to be BH terrorists & suicide bombers infiltrated Gwozari/Kushari in Polo general area, Maiduguri shooting sporadically & detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies.

“Eleven people including three bombers died while fifteen others sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized at the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri.”
