Boko Haram fighters reportedly killed six Nigerian soldiers in an ambush in Borno State, Sunday.

Military officials told journalists the terrorists opened fire on an army convoy around the village of Mayanti, near the border with Cameroon, in an area plagued by insurgents’ attacks.

“We have lost six soldiers in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists,” one officer said.

A second source gave the same toll, saying the soldiers were on their way to the nearby town of Banki when they were targeted by heavy gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades.
