If the words of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt General Tukur Buratai is anything to go by, then Nigerians can finally heave a sigh of relieve, as he claims the battle against the terrorist group Boko Haram has been won by the Nigerian military.

He said that the military has won the battle to flush out Boko Haram insurgents in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

The COAS made the declaration while speaking with newsmen at the weekend while laying the foundation stone for the new Brigade headquarters complex at the 2 Brigade, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

General Buratai commended the Army for crushing terrorism in the north east while also explaining that the Federal Government would not relent in giving special attention to the welfare of military personnel.

He said that the army will remain vigilant to contend with any new strategy that may be adopted by the terrorists.

Describing the current military operations in the North-East as critical, Buratai said vigilance will be applied in the continued onslaught against terrorists.
