Army beckons on Boko Haram to embrace Buhari’s amnesty

At least no less than eight soldiers were on Tuesday night allegedly killed in a village near Damaturu, Yobe State capital in the North-east part of Nigeria, reports say.

The dreaded insurgent group was said to have taken the soldiers by surprise at Sassawa, a village in Damaturu Local Government Area of the state at about 6pm, attacking and killing eight of them.

It was gathered that the terrorist group stormed a football pitch where the soldiers were in five Hilux Toyota Pick-ups, drove straight to the unsuspecting troops and opened fire on them. An officer was said to be among the eight killed while many others were injured.

It was further leant that the Boko Haram terrorists had a field day in the village after the Tuesday night attack. They were said to have moved round the village opening and looting food items from shops.

There was also claim that on Wednesday, around 10am, that the military conveyed copses of the soldiers killed to Damaturu in two military vans.

Spokesperson for 3 Division Military Base in Damaturu, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, who confirmed the attack, said he could not at the moment tell the number of soldiers killed. He however claimed that there were casualties on both sides.

Just recently, the presidency said the army had successfully wiped out Boko Haram. This Boko Haram fight seems not to be ending.

Listening to the presidency will not totally do much good, they are full of propaganda and missleading information. Only the nigeria army can give real update about the fight against Boko Haram, but also note that they will not tell you Boko Haram is still very much capable, so as not to cause panic

I think it’s true that Boko Haram is now broke and frustrated. They went to stores to steal food because they had no food, they opened fire because they needed to vent their anger and frustration. The Nigeria army should keep up the good job it’s doing, with time the rest of Boko Haram Members will surrender or run away
