Boko Haram ransack Biu, confront Military

Published

on

Members of the extremist Boko Haram group are presently making efforts to take over Biu, the largest town in Southern Borno state, residents have said.

An eye witness said the insurgents arrived early Wednesday through the southern part of the town, and moved to take over the army barracks there.

Boko Haram militants have largely been largely kept out of Biu through the combined efforts of the military and the youth of Biu town.

“Our boys have already taken strategic position waiting for them, at the moment, the soldiers are battling them. All we can hear now are gunshots from the direction of the barracks,” Mr. Ali said.

The group has seized many towns in Borno and Adamawa States. The latest seizure was Baga, overrun by the militants more than a week ago.
