Boko Haram terrorists kill UN contractor, four others

A member of United Nations (UN) technical team working along the border between Nigeria and Cameroon and five others have been killed by armed men suspected to be members of the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, which the Nigerian government claimed has been conquered.

The attack, which according to the United Nations Office for West Africa, occurred on Tuesday at around 1400 local time near the Cameroonian border town of Kontcha, left several persons with diverse wounds.

Mohamed Ibn Chambas, UN Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, has condemned the attack which left a UN independent contractor, three Nigerian nationals and one Cameroonian national dead.

Since the purported defeat of the group, following the Nigerian Army capture of Sambisa Forest, said to be the headquarters of one of the world’s most notorious terrorists group, attacks and mayhem caused by the sect have continued to dominate news headlines in Nigeria.

However, their attacks have concentrated mainly on soft targets, especially places of worship and markets.
