Bolt to debut at Old Trafford in a celeb football match

Eight-time Olympic gold medalist, Usain Bolt will finally make his footballing debut at Old Trafford when he captains a team of international celebrities for the Soccer Aid match on 10 June.

The renowned sprinter, who said ‘goodbye to everything’ as his successful career came to an end last August, has always spoken about wanting to get into professional football after retirement.

Being a huge fan of the Red Devils, 31-year-old Bolt has on several occasions aired his desire to play for Manchester United; but he will be making his debut on the club’s home ground come June.

“It’s my dream to make it as a professional footballer. To play against some of football’s biggest legends is going to be remarkable,” Bolt said.

Captain Bolt’s side will be playing against Robbie Williams’ England side in the UNICEF match, and the Jamaican sent a warning to his foes via Twitter over the weekend.

“Robbie and his England team better watch out as I won’t be going easy on them,” said Usain, adding that he’s got a “special celebration” planned should his team win.

Robbie however said, “Reclaiming the title for England this year is going to taste so much sweeter with Usain leading the Soccer Aid World XI.”

The Soccer Aid game, which has raised £24 million to help children since its launch in 2006, will as usual bring together celebrities and former world-class footballers for the match.
