The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has said there has been a case of reported car bomb in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Unconfirmed reports say more than 18 people died in the blast.
NEMA had said on its twitter handle: “There is a reported case of bomb blast around Muna Garage.
According to reports from the North East state, the blast occurred on the outskirts of the Maiduguri in a convoy of vehicles and trucks conveying goods and passengers on their way to Gamboru Ngala.
The Maiduguri-Gamboru Ngala route is not passable without military escorts.
According to an eyewitness, 10 corpses were seen at the scene of the explosion while a source at the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital said 18 bodies have so far been brought to the hospital’s mortuary.
