Boko Haram will be a 'thing of the past' if you re-elect me in 2019– Buhari

The presidential campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari in Ogun State on Monday was filled with lots of rancour and confusion as top executives of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) were booed and stoned by angry supporters.

The campaign which held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, was characterised by series of drama as speech by the National chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, was interrupted by youths who pelted stones at him.

It took the effort of security operatives and aides who formed a shield around the President to prevent being hit by the stones.

Trouble started after the governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun urged the supporters to vote for President Buhari in Saturday’s election but begged them to vote for the Allied People’s Movement ( APM ) in the governorship election.

Soon after he spoke, Oshiomhole mounted the state to address the crowd but was interrupted when he attempted to raise the hand of the APC governship candidate, Dapo Abiodun. He was then stoned as pandemonium filled the campaign ground.

President Buhari who raised up Abiodun’s hand urged the party members to “choose whoever you like across party lines. This is your right. I have no problem about it.”

Angered by the development, leaders of the party, including former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, left the podium while the President was giving his speech.
