Boris Johnson urges Trump not to walk away from Iran nuclear deal

UK’s foreign secretary Boris Johnson has urged US President Donald Trump not to back away from Iran nuclear deal.

Johnson who is in Washington to persuade the US president to remain a part of the international accord said; “at this delicate juncture it would be a mistake to walk away”.

Reports say the UK and its European allies have until 12 May to persuade Mr Trump to stick with the deal which saw Iran agree to limit its nuclear activities in return for the easing of sanctions on its economy.

Three days ago, Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif issued a note of warning to the US over trying to renegotiate the nuclear deal threatening that a withdrawal from the pact would result in its termination.

Zaif said US bears sole responsibility for fate of deal, as he warned against terminating the pact.
