Borno govt confirms 6 fresh cases of COVID-19 infections

The Borno State government led by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has confirmed six fresh cases of COVID-19, raising the total number of infections in the state to 59 thus far.

This was confirmed on Thursday via the Twitter account of the Borno State Ministry of Health.

The tweet read, “As at 11:55pm 29th April, 2020 NCDCgov confirmed 6 new positive cases of Covid-19 in Borno State. Total number of cases in the State: 59. Active cases: 50.

“9 deaths have been recorded with no patient discharged,” the tweet by the Borno State Ministry of Health added.

This development comes after Borno State health surveillance and investigation team found the 24-year-old man who went into hiding after testing positive for COVID-19 in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Salisu Kwaya-Bura, disclosed this on Monday.

The commissioner, who is also the Secretary of the Borno State High-Powered Team on COVID-19, said the patient was found in a critical state in his family house in Gwange area of Maiduguri, the state capital.
