Borno PDP chairman suspended over alleged antiparty activities

PDP shuts down Twitter handle, disowns tweets

The Borno State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji
Baba Basharu, has been suspended by the party’s National Working
Committee, NWC, over his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

His suspension was announced in a statement on Wednesday by the
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh

According to Meuh,  “the NWC of the PDP took the decision after
preliminary hearing on reports of various activities inimical to the
progress of the party, especially flouting the provisions of article
58 (1), (b), (c), (f) and (h) of the PDP constitution.”

Continuing, Metuh said Basharu’s suspension falls within the
provisions of the PDP Constitution on disciplinary procedures.

He however disclosed that  the suspended chairman has been referred to
the National Disciplinary Committee for appropriate action in line
with the provisions of the constitution of the party.
