Bowen University loses 2 lecturers to kidnappers

Two Lecturers of the Bowen University, Osun State were reportedly kidnapped on Monday evening.

The kidnapped lecturers were said to have been coming from Ilesha while their vehicles were stopped around Idominasi town in Obokun local government area of the State.

One of them was shot while attempting to escape while another escaped into the bush unhurt before the other two were kidnapped.

A victim of the incident simply identified as Kolawole, a staff of Osogbo local government, narrated that the incident occurred around 4:30 pm.

He said the abductors numbering about five spoke in fluent Yoruba language and were armed.

He said, “The kidnappers were about five in number and spoke in Yoruba. They stopped a vehicle in front of our own vehicle. The men dressed in black and were armed with sophisticated weapons.

“The driver of the vehicle in front of us attempted to run and the vehicle was shot at. We all fled into the bush. The men spoke in fluent Yoruba language.”

The spokesperson of Osun Police Command, Folasade Odoro confirmed the incident, saying, two persons were abducted.

“But the information is still sketchy for now. Our men are still in the bush. We are on the trail of their abductors.”

Efforts to speak with the university authority was unyielding.
