Brazilian Senate sacks President Rousseff

As expected, the Brazilian Senate has voted to sack President Dilma Rousseff after a nine-month impeachment process.

The Brazilian upper house sanctioned her impeachment thereby confirming the country’s shift to the right, ending 13 years of leftist Workers Party rule.

Rousseff was sacked after more than two-thirds of the 81-seat Senate convicted her of breaking budget laws.
